Sluoksniai Vilniaus širdyje
Vilniaus senamiestyje kurtas šiuolaikiškas ,,midcentury" stiliaus buto interjeras tarsi junginys tarp naujo ir seno. Devyniolikto amžiaus kultūros paveldo pastate esančiame bute nebuvo vonios, sanitarinio mazgo ar virtuvės, net ir centralizuoto šildymo neatvesta. Tai buvo palikimas sovietmečiu išdalintų didelių butų ir paverstų atskirais butais - bendrabučiais. Todėl reikėjo kruopščiai suplanuoti komunikacijų trasas nepažeidžiant paveldosauginių konstrukcijų. Įrengta rekuperacinė sistema, grindinis šildymas ir garso izoliacija – visa tai integruota į interjero sprendinius nematomai, išsaugant estetinį švarumą. Miegamojo sienos restauruotos remiantis polichromijos tyrimais – sluoksnis po sluoksnio atidengti istoriniai dažai, atkurtos autentiškos detalės. Tai suteikė erdvei ne tik istorinį gylį, bet ir unikalų vizualinį sluoksniuotumą. Krosnis – istorinė detalė – taip pat palikta matoma. Svetainėje aplink vonios patalpą projektuotas virtuvės svetainės baldas, kuriame tilpo visa techninė įranga. Interjere dominuoja modernistiniai „midcentury“ laikmečio motyvai, interpretuoti šiuolaikiškai – išgrynintų formų baldai, šiltos medžiagos ir spalvų santūrumas sukuria ramią, elegantišką atmosferą. Stilius pasirinktas kaip tiltas tarp istorinės erdvės ir šiuolaikinio gyvenimo būdo. Vintažiniai baldai, šviestuvai paties užsakovo kruopščiai išieškoti ir su meistrais atnaujinti ir priderinti prie bendro interjero tono. Visas techninis, polichrominis ir įrengimas truko net tris metus, kas leido man kaip architektei kartu tandemu su užsakovu parinkti visas detales.

A contemporary mid-century–inspired apartment interior was created in Vilnius Old Town, conceived as a dialogue between the old and the new. The apartment is located in a 19th-century cultural heritage building which originally lacked a bathroom, sanitary facilities, a kitchen, and even a centralized heating system. This condition was a legacy of the Soviet period, when large apartments were subdivided into smaller communal units.
As a result, the engineering systems had to be carefully planned and routed without compromising protected heritage structures. A heat recovery ventilation system, underfloor heating, and sound insulation were installed and seamlessly integrated into the interior solutions, remaining visually unobtrusive and preserving the aesthetic clarity of the space.
The bedroom walls were restored based on polychromy research: historical paint layers were revealed one by one, and authentic details were meticulously reinstated. This process added not only historical depth but also a unique visual stratification to the space. The original stove, a significant historical element, was also preserved and left exposed.
In the living area, a custom-designed kitchen–living room unit was built around the bathroom volume, accommodating all technical equipment. The interior is dominated by modernist mid-century motifs interpreted in a contemporary way—refined furniture forms, warm materials, and a restrained color palette create a calm and elegant atmosphere. The chosen style serves as a bridge between the historical shell and a contemporary lifestyle.
Vintage furniture and lighting fixtures were carefully sourced by the client, then restored and adapted in collaboration with craftsmen to harmonize with the overall interior tone. The entire process of technical planning, polychromy research, and interior installation lasted three years, allowing me, as the architect, to work in close tandem with the client to curate every detail of the project.
