Holy Donut Kauno senamiestyje
Kauno širdyje daug metų dirbusi kavinė nusprendė veiklos nebetęsti, todėl liko patalpos su buvusiais baldais ir įranga. Funkciniame plane pakeitimai nebuvo galimi, todėl rekonstrukcija vyko prisitaikant prie esamos situacijos – palikta autentiška raudonų plytų siena, gerai išsilaikę mediniai langai ir durys, medinės sienų panelės. Tačiau visa kita reikalavo atnaujinimo arba visiško pakeitimo – pakeistos inžinerinės sistemos, sudėtos naujos grindų dangos, sutvarkyta ir pakeista apšvietimo sistema.
Senajame projekte apšvietimas buvo minimalus, neatitinkantis poreikių – naujas architektūrinis į lubas sumontuotas apšvietimas suderintas su dekoratyviais šviestuvais. Prisitaikant prie buvusios stilistikos elementų pagal individualius brėžinius buvo pagaminti gipsiniai karnizai, kurie naudoti ne tik lubų perimetrui, bet ir aplink įmontuotus apvalius šviestuvus.
Didžiausias iššūkis buvo pagrindinis erdvės akcentas – medžio masyvo baras, kuris slėpė laikančiąsias konstrukcijas. Jų vietos nebuvo galima pakeisti, todėl masyvų baldą visiškai dekonstravo, perdarė ir renovavo tie patys gamintojai, kurie jį gamino prieš 16 metų. Buvo įmontuotos stiklo vitrinos ir šaldytuvai, pakeistos baro funkcinės zonos, sumontuota reikalinga įranga pagal naujus poreikius. Ilgas ir kruopštus bendradarbiavimas pasiteisino – ilgai tarnavęs baldas ir toliau atlieka savo funkciją.
Renovacijos dažnai slepia savyje daug netikėtumų ir kompromisų, kuriuos suvaldžius gaunama neįkainojama patirtis.
Holy Donut in the Old Town of Kaunas
A cafe that has been operating for many years in the heart of Kaunas has decided to stop operating, so the premises with the former furniture and equipment remained. Changes were not possible in the functional plan, so the reconstruction was carried out by adapting to the existing situation - the authentic red brick wall, well-preserved wooden windows and doors, and wooden wall panels were left untouched. However, everything else required renovation or complete replacement - engineering systems were replaced, new flooring was installed, and the lighting system was repaired and replaced.
In the old project, the lighting was minimal and did not meet the needs - the new architectural ceiling-mounted lighting installed and combined with decorative lamps. Adapting to the elements of the former style, gypsum cornices were made according to individual drawings, which were used not only for the ceiling perimeter, but also around the built-in round lamps.
The biggest challenge was the focus of the space – the solid wood bar, which hid all supporting structures. They could not be replaced, so the massive piece of furniture was completely deconstructed, rebuilt, and renovated by the same manufacturers who made it 16 years ago. Glass showcases and refrigerators were installed, the functional areas of the bar were changed, and the necessary equipment was installed according to the new needs. Long and careful cooperation paid off - the long-lasting furniture continues to fulfill its function.
Renovations often hide many surprises and compromises, which, when mastered, leads to invaluable experience.
